Fasting in Nissan

May one fast in Nissan?
There is an established fast day for bechorot (firstborn sons) on erev Pesach, which is certainly permitted. Aside from this fast day, all opinions are that any additional public fast day should not be established in the month of Nissan (e.g., a fast day for the situation in Israel). However, Sefardim permit a private fast day (e.g. fasting on the yahrzeit of one’s parent), while Ashkenazim only allow the private fast of a chatan/kallah on the day of their wedding in Nissan, if that is their custom since that is considered a taanit simcha.
