What is the status of brown spots in brown eggs?

Brown eggs often have reddish-brown spots and people are quick to dispose of them and even avoid using brown eggs altogether. 

Halachically, however, spots in brown eggs are only prohibited if the color of the spot is absolutely red like the color of blood. If a spot is the same brownish color as the shell, it is permitted to use the entire egg, since these are spots of pigmentation and not blood.
