What should one do if he sees a blood spot in an egg?

These days, most store-bought eggs are not fertilized eggs and therefore, if a blood spot appears in such an egg, it is not an indication of the fertilization of a potential chick.

In such a case, one may remove just the blood and the rest of the egg can be used. Although some have the custom to throw away the entire egg, halachically it is sufficient to remove only the actual blood.

If one is using fertilized eggs and a blood spot is found, the entire egg will be prohibited.
